Aug 25, 2020 · The diagram below depicts a typical black tank flush system. What I suspect is the breaker/check valve in your camper is defective thus not allowing water to pass through the system. To answer your question directly, the flush nozzle is installed directly into the side of the black tank. (It could be clogged...but I doubt it.) Normally when we would attach a hose, water would spray into the black tank. This was very handy for cleaning and to help add water to the tank before or after dumping. But what was happening is that the line would essentially pressurize and no water would go into the black tank.

That black thing is a backflow preventer, to keep any possible water contamination from the black tank getting into the water system. Like everything else Jayco does, it's the cheapest one they can find, and often fails. You saw the result of that failure. You can get a brass replacement one at Home Depot. They are also used on home sprinkler systems.

I usually close mine for 5 minutes and then reopen to allow the tank to partially fill to get a good flush.
